Pastor
At Siloam
Rev. Eric A. Thomas has been pastor of Siloam since 2017. He has the double distinction of being the first pastor ordained at Siloam and its first openly same-gender loving pastor.
Rev. Thomas has helped to modernize the operations of the church. That work has included much-needed building repairs and the creation of the Siloam CDC of Bed Stuy. He welcomed the Bed Stuy Kids Pre-School of Business and a youth soccer program to share space in the church's Parish House: first Park Slope United Soccer Club, and today Futbol Rebels. Under his tenure, Siloam has established community partnerships with Brooklyn chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Gay Men of African Descent, The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries (TFAM), Covenant House, Black Women's Blueprint and Kingston Family Center.
Alongside his ministry at Siloam, Rev. Thomas is Assistant Professor of Bible at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church. He serves in leadership roles with the General Assembly of the PC(USA), the Synod of the Northeast and the Presbytery of New York City.
Life and ministry
Rev. Thomas earned the Ph.D. in Bible and Culture at Drew University, with concentrations in Africana and Women and Gender Studies. He earned the Master of Divinity at the Interdenominational Theological Center.
